Nottingham Hospitals Archives 2011
In a report made out by the Health Committee to the Nottingham Council, dated first of October 1883, it was said:
"The Vicar of Basford was unwilling to sell to the Corporation a portion of the Glebe Lands for the purposes of erecting thereon an Infectious Diseases Hospital when all that was required was just 26 acres of land. The unwillingness by the Vicar to sell just a small portion of the land was because he felt; an infectious disease hospital would affect the overall value of the remaining land.”
1884: January, 126 acres of land was purchased from the Vicar of Basford by the Nottingham Corporation for £25,475.
